Damage caused by flooding, particularly that of rivers and lakes, is a great problem globally. Flooding from rivers overflowing their boundaries regularly causes great economic losses worldwide; the need for protection of areas threatened by flooding is substantial. On average, the annual cost of flood damage is 50 – 100 billion ECU in industrialised countries alone. AquaFence AS has developed patented, safe and cost effective methods that require substantially less manpower to set up as compared to sandbags and/or embankments. The AquaFence products are quick to erect, are less costly, can be stored and re-used and are more reliable than traditional sandbags.
